Overview
The Quanzhou Local Delicacies Association (QZLDA) is an industry association dedicated to promoting Quanzhou’s rich culinary heritage. Established on 24 September 2012, the association was approved by the Quanzhou Tourism Bureau and officially registered with the Quanzhou Civil Affairs Bureau. Since its inception, membership has grown from 44 to 130 establishments, covering all districts and counties within the Greater Quanzhou area.
Key Initiatives and Activities
Culinary Heritage Promotion
2013: Collaborated with China News Service to publish Quanzhou’s Signature Flavours, a book highlighting the city’s renowned delicacies.
2015–2017: Partnered with local media, including Radio 8809’s "Exploring Quanzhou" and Shan Zha Video, to promote member restaurants and showcase Quanzhou’s culinary culture. The association also worked with the Tourism Association to feature member establishments in Quanzhou’s tourism maps.
Participation in Major Festivals and Events
2013–2023: Organized member participation in numerous cultural and culinary events, such as the World Minnan Culture Festival, the China Tea Capital Anxi International Tea Expo, and the "Most Minnan" Food Carnival.
2023: Hosted international delegations, including a business study group from the Guangdong-Macau Chamber of Commerce, to explore Quanzhou’s food industry.
Social Responsibility and Community Engagement
2018: Led a book donation initiative for rural schools in cooperation with the Fujian Provincial Education System’s Youth Development Committee.
2020: Organized a "Civilized Dining and Food Waste Reduction" campaign in partnership with the Quanzhou Market Supervision Bureau and Quanzhou Commerce Bureau.
2022: Provided pandemic relief by donating meals and supplies to frontline workers. Conducted a veteran support program, raising funds from 27 member businesses.
2023: Actively participated in national and regional culinary competitions, including the 32nd China Chef Festival and the 5th Chinese Snack Industry Development Conference, further integrating Quanzhou’s food culture into the national scene.
Global Outreach and Industry Recognition
The association has facilitated study tours to Taiwan, Fuzhou Pingtan, Chaozhou, Shantou, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai, and Nanjing, engaging with local culinary experts and institutions. QZLDA members have received prestigious accolades, including titles such as:
"China’s Famous Snacks", "Fujian’s Signature Dishes", and "Fujian’s Renowned Restaurants".
Recognition under Quanzhou’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and Quanzhou Time-Honored Brands programs.
