The vibrant food scene in Quanzhou captivates visitors, drawing them into its rich culinary traditions. At the heart of this experience is Ginger Duck, a dish that embodies the city's warmth and character with its open-flame cooking method and intoxicating fragrance.
Rednote blogger Zhang Shiyang from Guangdong shared her impressions of Quanzhou, describing Kaiyuan Temple as the spiritual heart of West Street and a true reflection of the city’s essence—half sacred, half bustling with everyday life. She observed that the temple was not only a place of worship but also a gathering spot for locals, where elderly residents might even hold group dances, seamlessly blending the sacred and the mundane.
Zhang also highlighted Quanzhou’s signature dish—Ginger Duck. She humorously noted, “No duck can escape Fujian. In my two days in Quanzhou, I had duck both days.” Finally, she had the chance to try the famed Sidang Ginger Duck. Since only whole portions were available, she saved half for the next day—and to her delight, it remained just as delicious.
