  Yugan, also known as oil sweet or Yuganzi, is a distinctive fruit of Huian, Quanzhou, with a planting area of 30,000 acres and an annual production of over 60,000 tons. The region grows 32 varieties of Yugan, which are recognized as “famous, special, excellent, and rare fruits” in China. The fruit is notable for its large size, crisp texture, low fiber, abundant juice, and superior flavor. Rich in various amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, it has become famous for its health benefits.

  With a history of over 1,500 years in both culinary and medicinal uses since the Wei-Jin period, Huian Yugan is a renowned source of Vitamin C, containing as much as 261 mg per 100g, along with high levels of iron and potassium. It has earned the title of "King of Vitamin C." In December 2002, it was included in the list of "food and medicine" by the Ministry of Health and is recognized as one of the three health plants promoted by the United Nations World Health Organization.

  The primary cultivation areas are located in villages such as Lantian, Longshi, and Guanxi in Zishan Town. The blooming season starts in mid to late April, and harvesting occurs from September to October. Major varieties include the Pink Yugan, "Nanfeng No.1," June White, Glass Yugan, Autumn White, and Jujube Yugan. In December 2019, Huian Yugan received geographical indication certification.
