Shenhu Tuna Floss
Trademark Owner: Shenhu Snack Industry Association, Jinjiang
Shenhu Tuna Floss is a golden, fluffy dried condiment made from high-quality tuna caught from the 200-meter-deep waters of Shenhu Harbor. The production process involves washing fresh tuna, then carefully removing bones, scales, fins, head, tail, and internal organs. After cleaning and steaming with ginger, scallions, vinegar, and yellow wine, the fish is cooled and hand-picked. The meat is then dehydrated, crushed, and stir-fried over low heat until it becomes loose and flaky. Finally, salt, sugar, and other seasonings are added, and small bones are removed to produce the signature fluffy texture.
Tuna floss is rich in essential amino acids, vitamins B1 and B2, niacin, and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, and iron. It is easily digestible, making it an ideal source of nutrition, particularly for children and those recovering from illness. Whether prepared manually or by machine, the final product varies in flavor, but the care in production ensures high quality and a distinctive taste.
