Hongshan Red-Fleshed Sweet Potato
Trademark Owner: Quanzhou Luojiang Hongshan Township Fruit and Vegetable Industry Association
Hongshan Township, located in the northern corner of Luojiang District, Quanzhou, enjoys an average annual temperature of 17.5-18℃ and receives ample rainfall, with annual precipitation reaching 2000mm. The soil is predominantly red and yellow sandy loam, loose, well-drained, and moderately acidic, rich in organic matter—ideal conditions for sweet potato cultivation.
The unique geographical and climatic conditions give Hongshan’s red (purple) heart sweet potatoes distinctive quality. Every 500g of red-fleshed sweet potato provides 2,654,300J of energy and contains numerous nutrients, including sugars, proteins, vitamins B, C, carotene, niacin, calcium, iron, and 17 amino acids such as lysine and tryptophan.
On September 7, 2011, "Hongshan Red-Fleshed Sweet Potato" was officially registered as a certification trademark by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. With the support of its "Geographical Indication," the sweet potatoes have evolved from being sold by local farmers in bulk to being purchased by government or businesses, packaged as gifts, and now in high demand.
