  Wulijie Chives

Trademark Registrant: Social Affairs Service Center of Wulijie Town, Yongchun County

Wulijie Chives thrive in the unique environment of Wulijie Town, boasting distinctive qualities: firm, upright stalks with no drooping leaves; broad, flat leaves measuring 30-45 cm long and 1-2 cm wide, covered with a thin waxy layer. The leaf sheaths are robust, tightly closed, and measure 15-30 cm long. The chives change color with the seasons—light green in spring, green in summer, and slightly purplish-red in autumn—while maintaining their tender texture and intense aroma. Freshly harvested, their fragrance is noticeable even from nearby streets.

The town cultivates over 3,500 acres of chives, yielding more than 100 million pounds annually. The area features a 30-acre Chive Culture Park dedicated to research, education, and exhibitions, alongside a 1,200-square-meter testing and sorting center. In September 2021, "Wulijie Chives" received official National Geographical Indication Certification.

To meet growing market demand, the town plans to expand chive cultivation by over 10,000 acres across neighboring villages such as Jiangxi, Wubian, Wudong, Gaolong, and Putou, potentially increasing the annual yield to 300 million pounds.
