The Yongchun White Muscovy Duck, a celebrated regional delicacy from Yongchun, China, is renowned nationwide for its signature dish, "Yongchun White Duck Soup." This traditional specialty is prized for its nourishing and medicinal qualities. Another local favorite, "White Duck Stewed with Pickled Vegetables," is believed to boost health and strengthen immunity.
The Yongchun White Muscovy Duck belongs to the native Yongchun Muscovy duck breed, with a breeding history spanning over 280 years. Its distinctive meat quality and superior production traits have been developed through long-term domestication and selective breeding in Yongchun's unique environment. This duck breed is protected under China's National Agricultural Geographical Indication Registration and National Geographical Indication Certification Marks. It has been recognized as a leading regional agricultural product in both national and provincial "One Village, One Product" demonstration initiatives.
To preserve this valuable poultry resource, the local government has established a geographical indication protection zone covering 22 townships and 236 villages, spanning a total area of 1,451.8 square kilometers. Annually, approximately one million ducks are produced, with a total output of about 3,500 tons.
