During the recent National Day holiday, Quanzhou, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, experienced a significant tourism boost, with its picturesque rural areas drawing widespread attention. According to the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has recently announced 85 selected rural tourism routes under the theme Flavours of Life, Relaxed Countryside, including the Maritime Heritage City Quanzhou: Flavours of Nostalgia tour.

A Fusion of History and Flavour
Quanzhou, celebrated as the birthplace of Minnan culture, boasts a rich historical legacy intertwined with a diverse culinary heritage. During the National Day holiday, Quanzhou’s iconic tourist sites witnessed a surge in visitor numbers, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
To provide an authentic cultural experience away from the bustling crowds, the Maritime Heritage City Quanzhou: Flavours of Nostalgia Tour invites travellers to explore the region’s culinary and cultural heritage. The route includes historic sites such as Hushan Ancient Town, Qiaoxin Vinegar Factory, and Wulin Traditional Village. Visitors can savour traditional delicacies such as Bang She Kui (sweet glutinous rice with mung beans and sugar) and Shigu White Duck Soup, alongside innovative treats like Yongchun Old Vinegar ice cream and vinegar-based drinks. The tour also features Southeast Asian-inspired dishes, including spicy satay and coconut milk-infused rice.
