  Yongchun Minnan Shuixian Tea

Trademark Registrant: Yongchun County Tea Industry Association

Yongchun Minnan Shuixian Tea traces its roots to Fujian’s northern region, where it was first cultivated during the Qing Dynasty’s Daoguang era. Introduced from the Wuyi Mountains, its processing initially followed the Wuyi Rock Tea method, producing a tea comparable to Wuyi Shuixian. Over time, local tea artisans refined the process by combining the strengths of northern and southern Fujian oolong tea-making techniques, crafting the unique taste now known as Yongchun Shuixian.

The tea leaves are tightly twisted, plump, and evenly shaped, exhibiting a glossy, vibrant greenish-yellow color. Its distinctive “three-tone appearance” features leaves with red-tinted edges and a green center. When brewed, the liquor shines in a brilliant amber hue, exuding a floral fragrance reminiscent of orchids. The taste is refreshingly smooth, with a mellow sweetness that lingers on the palate. Its alluring aroma fills the air even before the first sip.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, more than ten counties and cities in southern Fujian adopted Yongchun’s Shuixian tea variety and its unique production methods. Consequently, the tea gained recognition as “Minnan Shuixian,” affirming Yongchun as its place of origin.

In particular, Shuixian tea from Yongchun’s Wulijie Town has won the county’s “Shuixian Tea King” title three times. It has been recognized as a prestigious brand at China’s Agricultural Expo. Its exceptional quality, captivating fragrance, and refined flavor have made it highly sought after in international markets, including Malaysia, Singapore, and over ten other countries and regions.
