The Quanzhou Tourism Association Hotel Division recently convened its leadership election and inaugural meeting for the second term. Wei Xianqing, Vice President of the Fujian Wedding and Ceremony Association and General Manager of the Maritime Silk Road Boya International Hotel, was elected as the new president.
With nearly 30 years of experience as a general manager in the hospitality sector, Wei has played a pivotal role in managing prestigious properties, including the Huarong Group’s hotel series, Jinquan Hotel, Garden Hotel, Nature Hotel, and Nature Wellness Club. His expertise and innovative leadership have elevated the reputation of the Maritime Silk Road Boya International Hotel, establishing it as a leading brand within Quanzhou and across Fujian Province.
In addition to his new role, Wei serves on several influential bodies, including the Fujian Tourism Hotel Star Rating Committee, the Quanzhou Tourism Association, and the City Chefs Association. His contributions have significantly shaped the development of Quanzhou’s dining, tourism, and cultural industries.
Quanzhou’s cultural and tourism economy has seen remarkable growth in recent years, with the city consistently ranking first in multiple tourism metrics across Fujian Province. Dining has emerged as a dynamic platform for showcasing Quanzhou’s rich cultural heritage and modern vibrancy. In July 2024, Quanzhou initiated its bid for UNESCO’s "City of Gastronomy" designation, creating a new wave of opportunities for the city’s culinary sector.
Under Wei’s leadership, the Hotel Division will aim to unite its members and drive collaborative progress. Plans include fostering innovation in cultural tourism, enhancing service quality, and strengthening the city’s dining sector. These initiatives will support Quanzhou’s ambitions to become a UNESCO "City of Gastronomy" while solidifying its position as a top cultural and culinary destination.
The Fujian Wedding and Ceremony Association (MWHCA), where Wei also holds a leadership role, has long championed the development of Fujian’s "happiness industries." By bringing together top entrepreneurs and executives, including hotel managers and operators, the association fosters innovation and high-quality growth. Through strategic partnerships with local cultural and tourism authorities and mainstream media, MWHCA organises flagship events and builds platforms for collaboration. These efforts continue to energize Quanzhou’s city branding as “Song-Yuan China · Maritime Silk Road Quanzhou” and drive sustainable industry development.
