Quanzhou Accelerates Culinary and Food Industry Talent Development
Quanzhou is actively fostering talent in the culinary and food industry. Currently, 17 universities and vocational institutions offer programs in Chinese and Western cuisine, bakery and pastry arts, food processing technology, and food safety testing, with 32 specialized programs and over 6,300 enrolled students.

The Quanzhou Marine Biotechnology Research Institute was established as a collaborative marine technology innovation platform through a trilateral agreement signed on 8 January 2023 between the Quanzhou Municipal Government, Ocean University of China, and the Shishi Municipal Government.

Fujian Province Quanzhou Normal University - School of Marine and Food Sciences
The School of Marine and Food Sciences at Quanzhou Normal University was established in March 2016, following the restructuring of the former College of Chemistry and Life Sciences. The origins of the school date back to 1959 when the Biology program was first launched, marking 61 years of educational history. In 2019, the school was honored with the "May 1st Pioneer Award" by Fujian Province.

The Quanzhou Institute of Cultural Heritage, established at Quanzhou Normal University, serves as a physical research institution. It is jointly developed through collaboration with Peking University’s School of Archaeology and Museology, the Quanzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, and Tourism, and Quanzhou Normal University.

Nan’an Hongxing Vocational Secondary School
Established in 1958, Hongxing Vocational Secondary School in Nan’an City is a pioneer in vocational education. Since launching its Chinese culinary arts program in 1989, the school has expanded to offer three specializations: Chinese Cuisine, Western Cuisine, and Fusion Pastry Arts. These programs are nationally recognized under China’s High-Level Vocational Schools and Professional Clusters Plan. The school is also a certified training base addressing industry demands for skilled culinary professionals in Fujian Province.

Official Inauguration of the Quanzhou Marine Bioresources Industry Institute
On December 16th, Fujian Province’s first national-level marine research institute, the Quanzhou Marine Bioresources Industry Institute, was officially inaugurated. This high-level innovation platform, established by the Quanzhou Municipal Government, Ocean University of China, and the Shishi Municipal Government, aims to drive advancements in marine science and technology. The institute was officially registered and founded in January 2023. Xue Changhu, a renowned expert in aquatic product processing and storage engineering, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed as its first director.

This event was organized by the School of Tourism at Huaqiao University, in collaboration with the Quanzhou Gastronomy Economy Research Center, the Quanzhou Cultural Tourism Economy Research Center, the Huaqiao University MTA Education Center, and the Huaqiao University MTA Alumni Association.
