Quanzhou, China — October 30, 2025.
The 2025 Fengze District "Zanhua Banquet" Culinary Competition and Master Chef of Land and Sea Contest was successfully held at the Quanzhou Binhai Grand Hotel, celebrating the rich heritage and creative evolution of Minnan cuisine.

Jointly organized by the Fengze District Bureau of Commerce, the Bureau of Market Supervision, the Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Fengze State Investment Group, the competition attracted talented chefs and culinary professionals from across the district. Each participant was given 90 minutes to prepare two dishes featuring authentic Minnan flavours, demonstrating both technical mastery and innovative flair. After intense rounds of judging, winners were announced for first, second, and third prizes, along with several special awards.
The top honour — the 2025 "Fengze District Master Chef of Land and Sea" — was awarded to Shi Xinmiao. The second- and third-prize winners received the title of "Fengze District Distinguished Chefs of Land and Sea." Outstanding dishes from the competition were selected for inclusion in the lists of the "Top Ten Signature Dishes" and "Top Ten Snacks of Fengze District."
Additional recognitions included the "Top Ten Chefs of Fengze District 2025," Best Organization Award, Fengze District Outstanding Restaurants 2025, Celebrity Judges' Choice, Excellence Awards, and Outstanding Chef of the Zanhua Banquet. The award ceremony, held later that evening, celebrated the creativity and dedication of Fengze's vibrant culinary community.
"We had contestants from the '90s, 2000s, and even post-2010 generations. It was exciting to see chefs from different eras bring fresh perspectives to dish design and ingredient selection — this event truly fosters creative exchange within our industry," said Xin Xin, founder of Youde Jiyan and one of the winners of the "Top Ten Chefs of Fengze District."
With the theme "Inheriting Fujian Culinary Traditions, Creating New Flavours," the event delved deeply into the cultural essence of the Zanhua Banquet — a distinctive culinary tradition of Quanzhou. Through live cooking competitions and gastronomic showcases, the event highlighted both the authenticity and innovation of Fengze cuisine, while providing a valuable platform for professional exchange and advancing the high-quality development of the local restaurant industry.
