Recently, a remarkable gastronomic celebration titled "Stars of the East: A Feast of Porcelain Artistry" took place at Yue Haitang in Shanghai. The event brought together top Michelin-starred chefs from Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai to present a culinary journey of Eastern aesthetics—served on the exquisite Dehua White Porcelain, a national geographical indication product from Fujian Province.

An encounter of fine dining and porcelain artistry

Under the warm glow of the restaurant lights, porcelain sculptures of Xunpu women adorned with flowered hairpins, and tableware as lustrous as jade, created an atmosphere where art and haute cuisine met in perfect harmony.

As an official partner of the Michelin Guide, the evening showcased an array of Dehua's porcelain masterpieces—six classic works by master artist Lian Zihua, fifteen art porcelains by Li Guolin, and a specially donated "China White" soup tureen from Dehua Zhenghe Ceramics.

"Bringing together food, art, and even a touch of the ocean—it's just fantastic," said Christiaan Stoop, Executive Chef of the three-Michelin-star restaurant Taian Table in Shanghai. "This event is truly special. I look forward to exploring more collaborations with Dehua White Porcelain in the future."

Zhang Yifeng, Head Chef of Chao Shang Chao (Beijing), another three-star Michelin restaurant, echoed this sentiment: "This is not only a culinary celebration but also an innovative dialogue between tradition and modern dining. I look forward to co-creating porcelain tableware that aligns perfectly with our restaurant's aesthetic."

Earlier this year, Dehua White Porcelain was officially announced as a Michelin Guide Partner, marking the beginning of a series of cross-cultural collaborations. According to the organisers, this partnership reimagines Dehua porcelain—once a prized export along the Maritime Silk Routes—as a new medium for global cultural exchange.

Through the creative expressions of Michelin-starred chefs, Dehua's "Blanc de Chine(China White)" porcelain finds new life, embodying the timeless beauty of Chinese craftsmanship while bridging the world of fine art and fine dining.
