The Erythrina variegata, locally known as the Citong flower and celebrated as Quanzhou’s city blossom, embodies the convergence of the city’s millennia-old cultural heritage and its distinctive culinary traditions. Drawing on this symbolism, Quanzhou officially unveiled its logo as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy yesterday at Deji Gate Square in the historic city centre.
