Shenhu Seaweed
Trademark Owner:Shenhu Snack Industry Association, Jinjiang City
Shenhu Seaweed is a type of marine algae that thrives along the rocky shorelines of shallow coastal areas. In China, seaweed has been consumed for over a thousand years, with various types of seaweed available. The most common variety from the southern regions is known for its rich content of iodine, phosphorus, calcium, and protein, providing numerous health benefits such as promoting kidney and heart health, lowering blood pressure, and boosting metabolism. Due to its sensitivity to pollution, seaweed is primarily natural, with its growth limited if the surrounding seawater becomes contaminated.
The favorable subtropical monsoon climate, along with the ideal water quality and temperature in Shenhu Bay, creates the perfect environment for growing high-quality seaweed. Generations of Shenhu fishermen have traditionally harvested seaweed using bamboo sticks, followed by cleaning, dehydration, and drying. The seaweed is typically pressed into round cakes, packaged, and sold as a premium, natural green food. This nutritious product is often given as a gift to friends and family. It can be enjoyed in various dishes, including seaweed soup, seaweed eggs, and sushi rolls.
